After two months my season is over!

First I wanted to apologize for not writing any stories about my time on the ship. This was not because I didn't want to, there were definitely things to tell, like the time when a gentleman from New Zealand gave me his address, because he really liked me, or the time when one of our guests walked into the water near our docking position in Amsterdam, that was actually hilarious!!!
No unfortunately there were some things going on that made me too tired to actually be able to sit down and write you all a story.
I will not go into all the details.
But the second receptionist they had me working with was a major pain in the ass, she kept telling me what to do. She was also the Hotel Managers wife and they both assured me that they kept work and private things separate, but that wasn't true.
At the end of April I had already had enough and told them I was going to leave, but they managed to talk me into staying. But I should have left when I said I would, because things only got worse.
Then on the 15th of May I had send an email to the corporate that is responsible for our ship that he would have to get me off of this ship or I would really leave this time. He told me he would find a suitable solution for this.
Later that week another corporate came to the ship to talk to us...he was actually yelling at her, which really did not help at all, but made things even worse. Because now they were blaming me for getting her fired, because all it would take was one email from me...but I had never asked them to get rid of her, I wanted to get away.
Anyway, I got an email from the corporate I had talked to in the beginning and this tone was soo completely different from what we had talked in before, that I called him to ask him about it. And basically it made me feel like I was a pain in his backside and that really pissed me off!
I had told them a number of times now that I could not work with this person, I had reached my limit and they kept asking me to try again. So how many more times would I have to tell them I couldn't do it anymore and how many more times would they ask me to try again??
So I told them that I would quit and I wanted to leave in Amsterdam that coming weekend. But of course they couldn't find me a replacement that fast and I didn't want to completely close the door on the company, so I stayed another week and I left in Basel...
But in all that time not once did anyone try to change my mind, or said Thank you or all the best, good luck with finding a new job...which makes me think something fishy was going on there!
I know the HM wrote an email to the corporate that came the second time, saying he was rude for yelling at his wife and I'm thinking maybe he threatened to leave also if they were going to fire his wife and of course it is harder to find a new HM then it is to find a new receptionist...
But anyway, all is well for me! As soon as I had made that decision I was at peace, no more knot in my stomach and so on.
Now I'm at home and taking it easy for a while. Get some sleep.
I'm at my mom's now, giving some attention to my rabbit. Poor thing is feeling her age and she needs some attention!!
When I feel well and rested, I'm going to go back out there and see what door will open for me this time, after I have closed the one of the ship, I'm sure there will be another opportunity out there for me!!
I will keep you posted!!
Love
Linda

Michelle:
Sorry to hear this season didn't go as you'd planned. Good luck finding a great new role (you will!) and enjoy a well earned break xx
