A week already!
Finally had an internet connection, I was able to write you a whole story about my life on board and then the connection was gone and so was the story!!!
My dad suggested to write a story in Word and then copy and paste it in the blog…I thought that was a pretty good idea,so I’m giving it a try! Gives me the time to write something and I don’t have to worry about wether or not it will be saved while I’m online!!
Anyway, I was telling you that it has been a week now, since I came on board and already it feels like it has been longer!! The fist few days were chaotic and I had a massive headache whenever I was done with work, so much info, so many new things! But now I can manage the reception on my own and it feels like I have been doing it for a whole season already!
I have a Senior, Jayson, he’s the 1st receptionist and I’m his second. He’s from the Phillipines, very nice guy. But being a receptionist kind of makes you a loner, since there’s just the two of us, we work in shifts, from 7 am to 7 pm or 9am to 9pam, with a break in between. And then there’s a nightreceptionist, who’s flirting with me, but not getting anywhere by the way!!haha And our breaks differ from the other departments, so I don’t see much of them and when I do they all speak in their own language. Which is natural, but it kind of makes you feel left out. We do have a messroom for the crew, but that’s a tiny room with an even tinier smokingroom, coming out of the messroom makes me smell like a sigaret myself, so I don’t like to go there.
The last group we had were from Germany, now we have a group of 138 people, mostly from the US. The ship fits 140 guests so we have a pretty full house!! There are also a couple of Australians and one person from Canada. I love having the Americans here, there mostly from the South of the US, I love their accents!! Now I can speak English with that accent too, so I have to keep from doing it with them!!
But I’m having a great time with them! Haven’t had a complainer so far! Some of them already think I’m from the US myself, someone thought my English sounded like I was from Washington DC!!
So so far, so good. If I could just get a good nights sleep everything would be alright! I have a roommate from Bali, Indonesia and she’s a waitress, which means her hours differ from mine. She comes in late at night and gets back up early in the morning, I’m a light sleeper, so she wakes me up everytime she comes in or leaves in the morning.
But I’ll get used to it, I hope, because we still have a long way to go!!!
That’s it for now, I’ll write more later!

So how long do you stay on the boat? Do you get a break to go home? I hope you get sleep - that is the worst. You'll eventually get to sleep - you're body can't go for too long without it. It's still cold here - Mother Nature doesn't believe it's Spring yet - still getting snow - nothing that really sticks but we want warm weather and flowers. Apparently only one person clapped for Obama when he was in the Hague. That is funny. We're almost done with our first Latin book - the second one is on it's way. Got to make dinner - catch ya later.
